The Compressed Gas Association (CGA) is circulating a coalition letter (click here to view) to the Department of Commerce and the U.S. Trade Representative seeking tariff relief on large diameter seamless steel pipe.
We are asking GAWDA Member Companies to consider signing on.
CGA is seeking relief from these tariffs, which currently total 75%, for several reasons:
- no domestic source exists today for large diameter seamless pipe, and
- the large diameter seamless pressure vessels are essential to an array of critical industries, including semiconductor manufacturing. Most helium is moved across land using pressure vessels made from this pipe. Other industries served are national defense, hydrogen and energy, and healthcare and industrial uses.
To be clear, the raw pipe is sourced from China, then goes through a manufacturing process in the U.S. to transform it into a highly engineered pressure vessel.
GAWDA Member Companies that would like to participate should submit the following information to Dane Mallon at dmallon@cganet.org:
- Organization Name
- Individual’s Name
- Individual’s email
The deadline to join in and provide your support is this Friday, October 30.
