GAWDA Consultant Updates

HOLLYWOOD, FL – GAWDA Consultants are key in GAWDA’s mission to promote the safe operation and economic vitality of distributors of industrial gases and related welding equipment and supplies. They act as the first line of defense to help GAWDA members navigate through day-to-day questions and issues.

At the GAWDA Annual Convention in Tampa, FL (October 8-11, 2025), we shared the news that GAWDA DHS, EPA, and OSHA Consultant Marilyn Dempsey was stepping back from her GAWDA duties.  “Marilyn has served GAWDA members with dedication and professionalism. On behalf of all of us, we thank her and wish her the very best in her next chapter,” said outgoing GAWDA President Eric Wood.

Ryan Combest, GAWDA ConsultantGAWDA is pleased to announce the addition of Ryan Combest to our roster of Safety Consultants. Ryan will work closely with GAWDA’s existing Consultant team which includes Michael Dodd, Tom Badstubner, and Richard P. Schweitzer. Ryan will continue to ensure our members have the support they need for their DHS, EPA and OSHA matters.

Ryan has more than 30 years of experience in the compressed gas industry. He began his career while earning a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Kentucky, working his way from material handler into medical and specialty gas production, and eventually managing a specialty gas laboratory and achieving ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.

Over the years, Ryan has held leadership roles in quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. He has also presented at GAWDA Professional Compliance Seminars and continues to support members with FDA compliance and specialty gas technical expertise as part of the AsteRisk team.
