GAWDA Gives Back - Maui, Hawaii

GAWDA Honors Its Host Convention Location, Maui, Hawaii By Donating to Local Charities

The GAWDA Gives Back program says something revealing and special about the National Welding Supply Association. GAWDA Gives Back was conceived by Donna Mahoney (far left) and championed by GAWDA President Dave Mahoney (middle) in 2000 as way of honoring and thanking our host convention city or community by tapping into the voluntary generosity of GAWDA members to benefit a local charity or charities selected by the GAWDA President and spouse. As Dave wrote when he introduced the voluntary charitable initiative:

Let's not simply take away memories; let's make memories for others as well. As a token of our appreciation for the things we take away, let's leave something for those that will never have the opportunities that we have enjoyed. What better way to say thanks to the community for having us as their guests !

In its first year, through the voluntary support of GAWDA member companies and individuals, GAWDA Gives Back donated over $36,000 to the Maui Adult Day Care Centers and Hawaii Community Services Council to benefit seniors on the island.
